SUNDERLAND striker Danny Graham could be heading to the Championship before the transfer window closes.

Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is trying to push the former Swansea and Watford striker towards the Stadium of Light exit.

Graham is known to have been interesting a number of Championship clubs all summer with his future now firmly away from the Premier League side.

Sunderland have a loan offer from Leeds and one of his former club’s Middlesbrough, but they prefer a more permanent arrangement.

Graham started his career on Teeside, then scored six goals in 18 appearances during a loan spell back at the Riverside last term. They remain interested.

The former England under-20 striker is available for around £1m, and is also believed to interest another of his old clubs, Watford.

While Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday are also both interested in Graham, who also had a spell on loan at Hull during last season.

Poyet is looking to trim a number of squad players and Graham is one who has been told that he doesn’t feature at all in his plans, leaving the way open for a return to the League. PLYMOUTH winger Jason Banton is a target for Birmingham, but Blues may wait until the next window to press ahead.

The ex-Crystal Palace man impressed during his first spell at Home Park but Lee Clark may have to wait on new investment to get his man.

FULHAM and Bournemouth are among the Championship sides who have been keeping tabs on Preston North End starlet Josh Brownhill.

The 18-year-old midfielder came through the youth ranks of Warrington Town and Manchester United prior to moving to Deepdale.

He has become a first-team regular since making his debut as a sub in the JPT defeat against Oldham last October.

Brownhill has been tracked by Championship and Premier League scouts this term.

Bournemouth and Fulham have been making regular checks on him.

Huddersfield have also been taking a close look, but they are in no position to do any business until they appoint a new permanent manager.

Everton, West Brom and Burnley are among the Premier League sides interested, but no bids have been made.
