NUHIU TOO MUCH FOR MIDDLESBROUGH

-

ANOTHER opportunity missed by Boro, who couldn’t take advantage of Derby’s defeat to Fulham.

The Teessiders felt aggrieved when they weren’t awarded an early penalty, but they didn’t justify their league position throughout and their defeat throws the race for automatic promotion wide open.

Aitor Karanka’s team selection certainly raised eyebrows before kick-off and the Spaniard may have to shoulder some of the blame after leaving out regular starters Grant Leadbitter, George Friend and Lee Tomlin.

As expected, Stuart Gray’s men handled the poor pitch better but that should be no excuse for the visitors, who didn’t create enough.

Atdhe Nuhiu played a leading role in this impressive performance for the Owls with a well- taken penalty and assist for Will Keane’s goal, while Liam Palmer, Tom Lees and Kamil Zayatte were dominant at the back for the Owls.

They move up to tenth in the table, while the Teessiders stay second.
