PROBE INTO RACE CLAIM

POLICE have begun an investigation into a complaint that Newport County striker Aaron O’Connor was the victim of racist abuse following his team’s 2-0 win at Accrington Stanley last week.

The 31-year-old scored the first goal in his team’s victory at the Crown Ground and it’s alleged a spectator aimed abuse in his direction as he walked off the pitch at full-time.

PC Mark Blackey, of the hate crime cohesion unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have any information to get in touch with us.”
