FAMILIAR FACE CAN INSPIRE MAGPIES

-

IN FOOTBALL, they say you should never go back but Notts County chairman Ray Trew is convinced the return of coach Dave Kevan will provide short-term and long-term benefits.

The Magpies are still managerless but with a League One relegation battle to fight, Trew was keen to bring another experienced head into the Meadow Lane coaching team.

Kevan, who was working at Conference side Forest Green Rovers, was previously County’s assistant manager before being sacked in 2010, along with boss Craig Short.

The 46-year-old will help current caretaker bosses Paul Hart and Mick Halsall and Trew is confident the trio will thrive.

“This team will work alongside a manager who can bring an attractive style of play to the side through the very best coaching methods and ideas,” said Trew, who failed in his attempt to persuade ex-Spurs coach Ricardo Moniz to become County’s new boss this week.

“This is with a view to adapting them to a model that will be successful and eyecatching next season. Our immediate aim though, remains securing our place in League One for next season.”
