MINDSET CHANGE FOR NEW BOY KEN

- By Pippa Field

KENWYNE JONES knows he will need an immediate shift of focus if he is to help Bournemouth achieve promotion to the Premier League – but he is relishing the opportunity of making a difference.

The Trinidad striker has joined the high-flying Cherries on loan from Cardiff City, where he had scored 13 goals in 36 appearances, until the end of the season.

And Jones, who netted against Ipswich on Good Friday, acknowledges the onus is on him to produce the goods that could propel Eddie Howe’s side into the top flight for the first time.

“It’s strange – you’re in that mindset where you’re not really playing for anything, and now you have to change your mindset into pushing for promotion,” the 30-year-old said.

“They are almost at the tipping point, I’m just being sent here to get them over the top and finish the job.

“I’m here for a short period of time and I will do my best to try and get the team over the line.

“I don’t think there is any point in me coming here just to watch. The team has been doing well and I will try to lend my experience.”
