LUZON’S JUST THE GUY FOR GOMEZ

MANCHESTER City are the latest club to be linked with Charlton starlet Joe Gomez but Addicks boss Guy Luzon is happy to ignore the speculation.

Gomez, 17, has been attracting the interest of a number of Premier League scouts this season, with Arsenal thought to be interested in securing his signature.

The England U19 defender has also been linked with Everton and Newcastle, while champions City are reportedly the latest club to join the chase.

However, Luzon has already made his intentions clear regarding Gomez and his position has not changed.

“I think now he is not ready to play in the Premier League,” said the Israeli manager.

“Now at his age he needs to play and only by playing consistently will he improve his level. It is no doubt that we are the best place for him now.

“For the club and for him the best thing is to stay.”
