TIERNEY HANGS UP HIS BOOTS
BOLTON defender Marc Tierney has announced his retirement at the age of just 29 due to an ankle injury.
The former Norwich fullback has undergone four operations since breaking a bone and suffering ligament damage during a game against Yeovil in 2013.
“It’s obviously very disappointing, but I’ve got some great memories from my time as a player,” said Tierney.
“The club have been kind enough to allow me to still come in for physio, so my treatment is still ongoing.
“I want to get to the point where it doesn’t affect me in my normal life – a recreational ankle if you will.”
