ROWETT IGNORES RAMS TALK

- By Stuart Marshall

BIRMINGHAM City manager Gary Rowett sees his future at St Andrew’s despite being tipped as a potential target for Derby County.

Derby boss Steve McClaren continues to be strongly linked with the manager’s job at Newcastle United.

If he was to leave, that would present the Rams with a major problem to replace him.

But ex-Burton boss Rowett, 41, is taking the speculation in his stride.

He said: “I said the same thing at Burton. We had speculation f or two years there about clubs coming in.

“I just said, ‘Look, when I am working for a club I just do that job with a hundred per cent conviction’.

“For me, success comes by doing the right thing. Success for me at the moment would be improving what we have done at Birmingham and seeing if we can push ne xt season and be a top ten team.”
