BOW IS BLACKBURN BARGAIN HUNTER

- By Ben Baker

BLACKBURN boss Gary Bowyer says he is looking forward to bagging a few bargains this summer at Ewood Park.

Rovers will be restricted to free transfers and loan signings once the window reopens as a result of the club’s embargo for falling foul of Financial Fair Play.

That will severely limit Bowyer’s options, but he is not kicking his heels in frustration – instead, the manager is hoping to repeat a trick or two and strike up a few good deals.

“We’ve already identified targets we want to bring into the club and it’s just a case of how many we can do,” said Bowyer.

“The embargo stops you dreaming of spending a million pound on a striker and it does reduce your options.

“It also means, even more so now, that the player you bring in has got to be the right player.

“But I think we’ve shown in the windows that we’ve been active in that we’ve managed to do that.

“What a free transfer Tommy Spurr has been. Matt Kilgallon makes that two. And then there’s Chris Taylor.

“So there are certainly good players out there and it’s just making sure we’re competitive and in there for them.”
