BURNLEY BACK TO EARTH WITH A BANG
FOR Burnley, a bruising welcome back to the Championship and a reminder – if any was needed – that an instant return to the top flight will be anything but easy.
Sam Vokes’ late leveller masked a perform- ance that was largely lacking in genuine menace, not something you could ever say about Burnley when they romped to promotion in 2014.
Of course, with Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier (directly responsible for 15 of their 28 goals last season) gone, that is to be expected and there was plenty to suggest the Clarets will improve. For Leeds, there is real hope for the first time in years.
Chairman Massimo Cellino has – for now at least – taken a back seat and the result is a sense of calm rarely seen in these parts.
That was reflected in a monster gate and a performance that screamed of cohesion and planning.
The squad may be too thin for promotion, but top ten should be a doddle.
