WIGGINS NOT THE GUY FOR ADDICKS

- By Joshua Richards

GUY Luzon insists Charlton can cope without Rhoys Wiggins after allowing the left-back to put pen to paper with Sheffield Wednesday.

Wiggins spent four years on Charlton’s books but was displaced in the Addicks’ starting line-up by Morgan Fox after suffering an injury last season.

And with the arrival of the versatile Zakarya Bergdich from Real Valladolid over the summer, Luzon says Charlton are not looking back with regret.

“We have two great leftbacks in Zakarya Bergdich and Morgan Fox,” he said. “When you have this situation you let him,Wiggins, go.

“Was he disappointed? You would need to ask him. But I’m happy with the squad we have.

“He is a good player and he gave a lot for Charlton in the last couple of years but now he will leave and it is good for him.”

Charlton remain in the market for a goalkeeper after confirming Stephen Henderson is set to miss the start of the season.

“The best case will be that Henderson returns after the first international break in September,” added Luzon.

“We will miss him for five, six or seven games.

“Nick Pope will start the games and now we are searching for someone who will be the second keeper.”
