AMBROSE MAKES A U-TURN

NEW signing Darren Ambrose admits going from turning out against Colchester, to pulling on the U’s jersey in under a month has been a strange experience.

The experienced former Newcastle and Crystal Palace midfielder, 31, signed on Thursday having been released from Ipswich Town.

Ambrose had played for Town in their 3-2 defeat at Colchester in a pre-season friendly only last month.

“It’s been a sharp turnaround,” he said.“I’m looking forward to it and pleased it’s over the line. I feel as though I’m joining a club on the up.

“The facilities are fantastic and it’s a young, vibrant team.”
