REMI UP FOR THE BLUES’ CLASH

-

REMI Allen insists Birmingham City have nothing to fear when they travel to FA Cup winners Chelsea this afternoon.

The Blues are a point clear of bottom club Bristol Academy and entrenched in a relegation scrap having scored just two league goals this term.

By contrast, the Blues of Chelsea have their eyes on the Women’s Super League 1 title and come into this match on the back of last weekend’s historic win at Wembley.

But with Birmingham having recorded their first win of the season against champions Liverpool last time out, followed up with a 7-1 demolition of local rivals Aston Villa in the Continental Tyres Cup, England midfielder Allen believes her team can succeed.

“Chelsea are next up and they’ll be coming in on a high as you would do if you’ve just won the FA Cup,” said the 24-year-old.

“But it’s more about us really, and if we can get our gameplan right and play how we have been playing then the game will be a good one and we can take the three points.

“We are coming in on a high too from our last few results and we are excited to get out and play them.

“Last time was a 1-0 loss to them and, while we didn’t create that much, we managed to keep them largely quiet. So hopefully now we are creating chances going forward it should be an interesting game.”
