WOLVES’ resolve to hang on to star striker Benik Afobe could be tested to the full by Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood.

The Villans, who sold Christian Benteke to Liverpool for £32m last month, have looked shot-shy in their opening two Premier League games, netting just one goal.

And that means they are eyeing £10m-rated Afobe, who has already scored in his opening two matches this season. The 22-yearold joined Wolves from Arsenal for £2m in January and was the joint leading scorer in the country last season with 32 goals.

West Ham have also been keeping tabs on the Leyton-born striker, who had a highly successful loan spell with MK Dons last year before his Wolves move.

Wolves, who host Hull today, will fight tooth and nail to hang on to the England U21 international.

Manager Kenny Jackett said: “Moving on our best players isn’t something we’re thinking about.”
