MARRIOTT STARS FOR HATTERS
PAUL BENSON was banging in goals when Jack Marriott was still in primary school, but Luton boss John Still says age is just a number.
Benson, 35, scored a solitary league goal for Luton last term, but 20-year-old Marriott has started this season like a house on fire – scoring six in pre-season before his double against Bristol City in midweek.
Marriott’s also competing with Craig Mackail-Smith, but the unknown striker signed from Ipswich over the summer has been the most impressive of the lot.
“He’s come in and is probably a bit further advanced than I thought he might be,” said Still.“And he’s not content to be behind everyone.”
