NEWELL CAN GO TO THE TOP
STEVE EVANS has backed Joe Newell to take the Championship by storm this season – and potentially outgrow Rotherham.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been filling in at left-back, signed a threeyear deal with the Millers earlier this month.
And boss Evans says the former Peterborough starlet has all the attributes to succeed at the highest level.
“If he keeps playing the way he has in his last two games, the kid will go on to higher things,” he said.
“He was in the Championship a few years ago with Peterborough. Some weeks I’d go and see their matches when we weren’t playing and he was stunning.”
