BORO SPLASH OUT £4M TO BAG STRIKER NUGENT

-

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka believes he has got the “right player at the right price” after completing the £4m signing of David Nugent from Leicester.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year contract and will be charged with attempting to fire Boro to the Premier League alongside Kike and Christian Stuani.

Boro had been keen to boost their forward options after Patrick Bamford and Jelle Vossen both departed in the summer. But with their attempts to land £14m-rated Blackburn hitman Jordan Rhodes stalling, Boro have swooped for Nugent.

Experience: David Nugent

“Everyone knows what a good player he is,” said Karanka. “We have worked really hard to bring David to the club and everyone can see that we have not had to spend a crazy amount of money to bring him here. It’s important to get the right players at the right price.”
