CAM THE MAN FOR ROVERS

-

TIRED of sitting around kicking his heels, midfielder Cameron Stewart admitted it was a no brainer to up sticks from Ipswich and join Doncaster Rovers on loan until the new year.

Despite only joining the Tractor Boys last summer, the 24-year-old found himself out of the picture last season, eventually going out on loan to Barnsley.

And with manager Mick McCarthy encouraging him to go out on loan, Stewart’s mind was made up.

His stay at Rovers will be his tenth different club since first being promoted to the first team at Manchester United in 2009 and Stewart admitted regular game time is a must for his future prospects.

“It’s good to be here and refreshing. I needed to get out of Ipswich and play some games to show people what I can do again, so I’m delighted to be here at the moment,” he said.

“It wasn’t a difficult decision as I’ve not really been playing much at Ipswich, so the opportunity to be part of something meant that I wasn’t going to hang around and miss out on it.

“Hopefully I can bring a bit of excitement and wingplay and create some goals and assists and maybe score some myself.”
