PLY­MOUTH boss Derek Adams ad­mits match-win­ner Graham Carey al­ready feels part of the fur­ni­ture af­ter the midfielder’s stun­ning goal lifted the Pil­grims into sec­ond – and sent New­port bot­tom.

The for­mer Ross County star, signed by Adams over the sum­mer, capped a mag­nif­i­cent per­for­mance with an em­phatic fin­ish two min­utes be­fore the break.

The score­line did lit­tle to re­flect the over­whelm­ing su­pe­ri­or­ity en­joyed by the Pil­grims as they fash­ioned a steady stream of chances.

But Adams was thrilled to see his side rack up a fourth win from their first five league games and saluted Carey for pro­duc­ing another mes­meris­ing dis­play.
