Team mates
Best mate at the club? Gavin Tomlin, because I room with him and he understands I need my early nights when we travel! He can go out and do what he likes, but he knows I’ll be ready to go to bed at half-seven. I think it helps on the pitch, because last season I played rightback and he played right wing, but I did give him a bit of banter during the game by telling him he looked tired seeing as I went to bed early the night before and didn’t. Last to buy dinner? Matt Harrold. I don’t even know what type of wallet he’s got, as he’s never got it out to pay for anything. First on the dance floor? I have to give that to myself. We had a team bonding night during pre-season and I remember standing on the dance floor on my own looking round. I don’t know if I’ve got the best moves seeing as no-one else gets up and dances, but I’m for sure the first one there. FIFA King? One of the young ones, either Shamir Fenelon or Bobson Bawling – they’d wipe the floor with me, but that’s not hard! They usually take the PlayStation on the coach, so we end up having tournaments when we travel. But those two are usually the first ones to take the controllers and start playing. Worst Dressed? Luke Rooney. He says that he doesn’t want to be known as a typical footballer and you can tell that by his dress sense. He once wore these linen trousers when it was raining. Says a lot about the man! Dressing room DJ? I’ve got to take the honours on that one as well. I’m in charge of the music before games on match day and during training as well. I’ve had to vary it because a few of the northern lads weren’t happy with me just throwing in hip hop! So I’ve got to do a dance set one game and then a sort of hip hop and RnB set for the next to mix it up. My favourite tune at the moment has to be ‘On your Body’ by Chinx. Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party? Sonny Bradley, not because he’s a messy drunk but because he has to outdo his fancy dress from each year’s Christmas party and he comes out with some absolutely ridiculous outfits. Late for training? Roarie Deacon. He’s just got so many tracksuits to pick from he can’t decide which and always ends up turning up late. He just puts his money straight into our fines so it doesn’t matter. As long as he turns up on a Saturday for a match it’s alright! Best cook? Jon Ashton, because he’s always on about these dishes that he cooks up. He said he did a salmon crème fraiche the other day, but it just went over my head. Most skilful? Roarie Deacon, although I can safely say that he has never nutmegged me, nor has anyone else at the club for that matter! Gavin Tomlin and I have never been nutmegged – well whenever someone does nutmeg us we just say we had our foot in the air so it doesn’t count.
