Clever Curle’s Carlisle in Capital One box seat
FORGET Christmas trees and diamond formations, Carlisle United boss Keith Curle has come up with a new one – the box.
In his 3-2-4-1 system for last Tuesday’s 2-1 Capital One Cup victory at QPR, the ex-England international fielded two defensive midfielders and two attacking midfielders to stump the hosts.
He said:“We only had two days to work on it – we wanted to flood an area.We weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel, we wanted to get the ball down, pass and move.”
With the system coming up trumps, Curle may decide to give it another airing at Liverpool in the next round. Or has he got anything else in his box of tricks?
