BIRCH TO BED IN AT BURNLEY

ARLEN Birch is convinced that Turf Moor is the ideal place to kick-start his career, after penning a one-year contract with Burnley.

The 19-year-old rightback has been on trial with the Clarets for the past month, after leaving Everton, and will join up with the development squad after signing on the dotted line.

“I’m over the moon to finally get the deal done,” said Birch, who has played for England U18s.

“I have been here for a few weeks now, so I’m delighted and I can’t wait for the season ahead.

“I just want to cement my place in the development squad and hopefully push on from there.”
