NEWPORT TAKEOVER IS CLOSE

NEWPORT County Supporters’ Trust are inching closer to their £195,000 share offer target in order to complete the takeover of the club.

The trust were £55,000 shy of the figure at the end of the last week, having set an end of September deadline.

Former chairman Les Scadding has already agreed to transfer his shareholding to the trust.

The trust has been in interim charge since August, and board member Gavin Foxall is in no doubt the takeover will take place.

“We will be in and owning the club on October 1.We’re absolutely confident it’s going to work,” said Foxall.

“I don’t think we underestimate the challenge ahead.”
