MIDFIELD ACE COLE SENT TO COVENTRY

-

FIVE years after his last England appearance, midfielder Joe Cole will be turning out in League One after joining Coventry City on loan.

Cole, 33, has 56 caps for the Three Lions and will arrive at the Sky Blues on Monday.

He joins from Premier League side Aston Villa on a 35-day emergency loan and City boss Tony Mowbray is delighted to have enticed the former Chelsea schemer to sign.

“I’m delighted to welcome such a high-calibre player to the club,” he said.

“Joe has a great pedigree, both on the domestic and international stage, and I’m sure he’ll have a fantastic impact.”

Mowbray is also pondering whether to sign free agent Chris Eagles after admitting he’s liked what he’s seen from the former Manchester United man.

Eagles, 29, has been out of the game since being released from his contract at Charlton in the summer.

“He’s looked very good,” Mowbray said.

“We’re having a look at each other and then we’ll decide where it goes from there.”
