MID­FIELD ACE COLE SENT TO COVEN­TRY

FIVE years af­ter his last England ap­pear­ance, mid­fielder Joe Cole will be turn­ing out in League One af­ter join­ing Coven­try City on loan.

Cole, 33, has 56 caps for the Three Lions and will ar­rive at the Sky Blues on Mon­day.

He joins from Pre­mier League side As­ton Villa on a 35-day emer­gency loan and City boss Tony Mow­bray is de­lighted to have en­ticed the former Chelsea schemer to sign.

“I’m de­lighted to wel­come such a high-cal­i­bre player to the club,” he said.

“Joe has a great pedi­gree, both on the do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional stage, and I’m sure he’ll have a fan­tas­tic im­pact.”

Mow­bray is also pon­der­ing whether to sign free agent Chris Ea­gles af­ter ad­mit­ting he’s liked what he’s seen from the former Manch­ester United man.

Ea­gles, 29, has been out of the game since be­ing re­leased from his con­tract at Charl­ton in the sum­mer.

“He’s looked very good,” Mow­bray said.

“We’re hav­ing a look at each other and then we’ll de­cide where it goes from there.”
