FREEMAN FORGOT CUP GOAL
KIERON FREEMAN could not make his Portsmouth debut against Bournemouth yesterday as he was cuptied – and he admits he completely forgot he had scored in the FA Cup this term.
The 23-year-old defender has joined Pompey on loan from Sheffield United until the end of the season.
He is adamant his football skills are better than his memory after forgetting he netted for the Blades in a 3-0 win over Worcester.
“I didn’t know – the gaffer had to tell me I was cuptied,” explained Freeman.
“I couldn’t believe it. He told me I’d played and scored. I said ‘oh yeah, I did!’
“Even my agent thought I was available, so I was getting all excited about it.
“I’m terrible for remembering stuff like that. I just get my head down and play games.”
Freeman could make his Portsmouth debut on Tuesday night away to Morecambe, however.
And, with his new club flying high in League Two, he has set his sights on promotion.
He added: “I’m looking forward to getting some more games under my belt and, hopefully, to help get this team promoted.”
