Mas­cots love spot of TV fun

FUR was fly­ing as ten Foot­ball League mas­cots made their way into the Guin­ness Book of World Records this week.

The hon­our was for the high­est num­ber of penalty kicks scored by a team of mas­cots in one minute.

And they man­aged to kick the record into touch with an im­pres­sive 16 shots.

Il­lus­tri­ous names such as Billy the Bad­ger

(Ful­ham), Cap­tain Blade (Sh­effield United), Dig­ger the Dog (Da­gen­ham & Red­bridge) and Hay­don the Womble (AFC Wim­ble­don) took part, with Charl­ton Ath­letic’s SirValiant serv­ing as ball boy.

The World Record bid was at­tempted as part of film­ing for Nick Kicks, Nick­elodeon TV chan­nel’s new fam­ily foot­ball show cov­er­ing the Foot­ball League.
