Mascots love spot of TV fun
FUR was flying as ten Football League mascots made their way into the Guinness Book of World Records this week.
The honour was for the highest number of penalty kicks scored by a team of mascots in one minute.
And they managed to kick the record into touch with an impressive 16 shots.
Illustrious names such as Billy the Badger
(Fulham), Captain Blade (Sheffield United), Digger the Dog (Dagenham & Redbridge) and Haydon the Womble (AFC Wimbledon) took part, with Charlton Athletic’s SirValiant serving as ball boy.
The World Record bid was attempted as part of filming for Nick Kicks, Nickelodeon TV channel’s new family football show covering the Football League.
