ANDRE’S DESTINED FOR THE VERY TOP

- By Paul Ellison

ANDRE GRAY’S stellar season suffered a hiccup last weekend but Burnley team-mate George Boyd expects the striker to get even better off the back of it.

Gray, who joined the Clarets in August, began the weekend with 18 Championship goals for the season but wasted an opportunity to add to that tally against Reading last Saturday when he missed two close-range chances and a penalty.

However, winger Boyd believes the 24-year-old front man will easily shake off that disappointment.

“He’s brilliant,” said Boyd, 30.“If he misses a chance in a game he’ll be straight back in there to try and get the next one. Nothing fazes him.

“He’s a massive threat getting in behind. He’s got that pace which means we can mix our game up. If it’s not going right football-wise we can play that ball in behind. He’s got that raw pace that frightens defences.

“He’s been massive for us this season. He can be as good as he wants to be. He scores goals regularly, which is very rare.

“He’s done it every season he’s played in the professional leagues and I hope he gets a chance to show it in the top league.”
