MCDERMOTT HAS READING ON TRACK

AFTER last season’s fairytale run to the semi-finals, it was hard to believe Reading could do it again this campaign. But if this performance against West Brom is anything to go by, and they don’t draw too big a club next round, they could well do just that.

You would have been forgiven for mistaking Brian McDermott’s side for the Premier League outfit based on thier display here, as they easily ensured West Brom’s run of defeats away to the Royals was extended to 20 matches.

Hal Robson-Kanu was excellent throughout, jinking down the right wing and constantly pressuring Chris Brunt, and Oliver Norwood’s delivery was immaculate.

McDermott wants to build something special and on this performance it is coming together.
