DENTON’S SEASON ‘IS OVER’

HARTLEPOOL United goalkeeper Peter Denton could be out for the rest of the season after surgery to repair cartilage in his knee.

Denton, 19, joined Pools last summer after being released by Rotherham United and has been out on loan at Bedlington Terriers.

He suffered the injury in training and Pools head physio Ian Gallagher says there’s only a slim chance of him playing again this term.

“Due to Peter’s age, they’ve tried to keep as much of the cartilage as possible during the operation,” Gallagher said.

“Unfortunately, that means he could be out for longer so, in all likelihood, he won’t play again this season.”
