BRAVE TO BET AGAINST THE LATICS

LIKE a thoroughbred ominously coming up on the rails, Wigan look a decent bet to last the course in the League One promotion race.

After beating promotion rivals Gillingham with a late winner last month, the Latics repeated the feat at Walsall on Saturday.

With both the Saddlers and Gills experiencing a few hiccups in recent weeks, Wigan have taken advantage to climb into the top two - and it would take a brave man to bet against them staying there.

Walsall, meanwhile, were below their best but showed enough to suggest that, despite their home form failing to match their amazing away record, they should make the playoffs minimum. But they will need to get the slide on home soil sorted - and fast.
