PAUL FIRES WARNING TO POMPEY

PORTSMOUTH boss Paul Cook is warning his players to up their game against League Two’s strugglers or risk missing out on promotion.

Last weekend Pompey were thrashed 3-0 by Newport County and boss Cook insists his side’s inability to perform against the lower half of the table could prove their downfall this season.

“Our results against the bottom 12 would put us 14th – our record against the top half puts us second,” he said.

“And that is in a year when Northampton have won a ridiculous amount of games.”
