APPLETON EAGER TO SORT DEAL

OXFORD United manager Michael Appleton admits he could sign a new deal with the club next week.

Appleton, 40, has put the U’s in promotion contention in League Two and also guided them to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final against Barnsley.

“I’m not really one who gets dragged into stuff off the field really,” he said. “I’m pretty focused and it’s not affected me.

“If it can get done over the next week then brilliant and we can look forward to the remainder of the season.”
