Colclough eager to take on Cobblers
RYAN Colclough only signed for MK Dons on deadline day but the winger is already dreaming of derby success against Northampton Town today.
Colclough arrived on loan from Wigan as part of a double deal with Jack Hendry.
The 21-year-old former Crewe Alexandra man scored twice in the Latics’ promotion campaign last season and is confident he can hit the ground running at MK.
“It was a great feeling to be wanted by such a great club,” said Colclough, on loan for the season. “Everyone has welcomed me, it’s a great bunch and I can’t wait to get started.
“Every game is a big game but to play in a derby against Northampton would be a great feeling and I am sure we can put on a great performance for the fans.
“I have met and seen a few of the fans, it’s a pleasure to be here.
“I am only 21, I had a long lay-off with injury back at Crewe but played most of last season – and that is all I want to do at the moment, just play football.
“I know what the Dons are about – I made my debut against them. I like the way we play and I just want to contribute.”
Northampton will be without the suspended John-Joe O’Toole and Gabriel Zakuani, but manager Rob Page is confident his side can cope.
O’Toole has already picked up five bookings this season while Zakuani is on international duty with DR Congo.
However, Marc Richards, Alfie Potter and Sam Hoskins should all be available to return.
“With John-Joe suspended, it gives somebody else the chance to come in and grasp the opportunity,” said Page.
“We’ve spoken to the lads about some of the silly bookings we’ve picked up and I’m sure John-Joe will be disappointed to have picked up five already.”
