IT’S NO SURPRISE TO SEE TERRIERS IMPRESS

-

AT the start of the season, I said Newcastle United would be champions and, despite a poor start, they are now up and running in the Championship.

Those magnificent fans deserve nothing other than the Premier League – they will be back!

Aston Villa have also added some real quality players in the last few weeks. It’s certainly going to be top six for them.

Others, such as Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and, for me, Fulham, will be fighting at the top end.

I said on Sky Sports that I expected a big season from Huddersfield Town. The Terriers have a great chairman in Dean Hoyle, a good manager in David Wagner and some real talented players. They have started brilliantly.

In League One, I cannot look past a very strong Bolton Wanderers. They have all the ingredients, like Huddersfield Town.

The likes of Sheffield United, MK Dons, Bradford City, Scunthorpe United, Gillingham and Charlton should all be fighting for a place in the Championship.

In League Two, no-one can look at Portsmouth and believe they will not win promotion.

Like Newcastle, their fans are so passionate and deserve much more. Paul Cook is a good manager and can deliver that, but my tip to be champions is Luton Town.

I’ve watched them and they have lots of quality plus an inspirational captain in Johnny Mullins, who led my Rotherham team out of League Two. Doncaster Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Leyton Orient will, for me, also be in contention.
