BLUES FAVOUR SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE

-

PRETTY and spectacular they may not be but you have to admire Gary Rowett’s Birmingham.

They wrestled control back from a free-flowing Wednesday after a 25minute storm and thoroughly deserved this win.

Heroes they had aplenty but striker Clayton Donaldson was probably the pick.

He battled hard and skilfully throughout the night and finally got his reward just when Owls looked like going home with all three points.

Carlos Carvalhal’s after-match verdict was very harsh on the Blues they had a vice-like grip on the Owls for much of the second half.

Both sides and their managers must take great credit for making changes to earn victory rather than draw the game.

Atdhe Nuhiu’s header could easily have done it for Wednesday but Birmingham’s winner was majestic.

Jacques Maghoma’s eye and touch provided the opening and Lukas Jutkiewicz’s header was perfection.
