COLLINS PLEASED TO BE OFF THE SOFA

-

DEFENDER Danny Collins admitted his relief at joining Grimsby Town this week after becoming bored of watching the vidiprinter on a Saturday afternoon.

The 36-year-old left Championship side Rotherham United in the summer, having featured just once since January.

Until Monday, he was still without a club, spending his Saturday afternoons in front of the TV.

The former Sunderland, Stoke City and West Ham man is delighted to be playing once more.

“When you are sat at home, you’re watching games. I just want to get out there playing games,” said Collins.

“I’ve just turned 36, but I still feel pretty good, still feel fit and want to carry on playing as high as I can.

“I was on a free. I’ve done a bit of pre-season with Bolton. Nothing came about, so I’ve just kept ticking over.

“My agent, gave me a call on Sunday and said something might be happening here. I got up on Monday morning, and agreed to come down and get the deal done.”
