COLLINS PLEASED TO BE OFF THE SOFA

DE­FENDER Danny Collins ad­mit­ted his re­lief at join­ing Grimsby Town this week af­ter be­com­ing bored of watch­ing the vidiprinter on a Satur­day after­noon.

The 36-year-old left Cham­pi­onship side Rother­ham United in the sum­mer, hav­ing fea­tured just once since Jan­uary.

Un­til Mon­day, he was still with­out a club, spend­ing his Satur­day af­ter­noons in front of the TV.

The for­mer Sun­der­land, Stoke City and West Ham man is de­lighted to be play­ing once more.

“When you are sat at home, you’re watch­ing games. I just want to get out there play­ing games,” said Collins.

“I’ve just turned 36, but I still feel pretty good, still feel fit and want to carry on play­ing as high as I can.

“I was on a free. I’ve done a bit of pre-sea­son with Bolton. Noth­ing came about, so I’ve just kept tick­ing over.

“My agent, gave me a call on Sun­day and said some­thing might be hap­pen­ing here. I got up on Mon­day morn­ing, and agreed to come down and get the deal done.”
