KEEPER FULTON’S LEARNING CURVE
YOUNG goalkeeper Ryan Fulton admits he is learning all the time as he bids to make a success of his season-long loan at Chesterfield.
The 20-year-old arrived at the Spireites from Liverpool after regular No.1 Tommy Lee underwent shoulder surgery.
Fulton, who played 13 times while on loan at Portsmouth last season, has been between the Chesterfield sticks for all bar one game this campaign, sitting out last month’s 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Wolves U21s.
And, as he goes from strength to strength, Fulton credits the injured Lee and manager Danny Wilson for helping him to adjust to life at the Proact Stadium so quickly.
“It’s great for me, great experience. I’m learning as the games and weeks go on,” he said.
“What’s happened to Tommy is unfortunate for him, but I just came here to try to show what I’ve got and try to earn that place in the team.
“I’ve a great relationship with Tommy. He’s great for me. I can learn so much from him and he’s happy to help me. It will be a good fight for both of us when he comes back.
“The gaffer (Danny Wilson) has given me loads of confidence for games.”
