SHERIDAN GEE-UP FOR KID HOLLIS

- By Chris Bailey

HAYDN HOLLIS has a lot of work to do if he hopes to earn a regular place in Notts County’s starting line-up, according to manager John Sheridan.

The 23-year-old defender has been far from first name on the team-sheet for the Magpies this year and, though Sheridan admits he was impressed by some areas of Hollis’ game, he needs the promising youngster to develop his consistency.

”He’s got lots to do. He’s got to get more consistency in his game, more than anything else,” the 51-yearold said.

“He’s a good player. I like him. I’ve told him that. He’s left-footed and there are not many of them about.

“It’s just getting consistency in his game and knowing what he’s good at, knowing what his weaknesses are and how he can make them better.

“But he’s got lots to offer. He’s a good trainer and I like him as a kid.

“He’s been in and out of my side. He’s had a little injury but he’s back in now.

“I’ve told him it’s important once he’s in to stay in there. If he’s playing well, I’ll keep him in.”
