CALDWELL UPBEAT ON BURKE

WIGAN boss Gary Caldwell is confident defender Reece Burke will bounce back from injury sooner than expected.

The West Ham United loanee, 20, underwent surgery on a hernia this week and could miss a month.

But with Alex Gilbey’s ankle injury better than at first feared, Caldwell is not too downhearted.

“Reece should be out for three or four weeks,” he said. “The type of lad he is, hopefully he’ll be back by the earlier date.

“The full extent we’re not entirely sure about, but so far it’s positive news (for Gilbey). Hopefully he’ll be back soon and he’ll be better for it.”
