LAPSLIE IS PLAYING PATIENCE

COLCHESTER UNITED starlet Tom Lapslie is taking no chances in his recovery from an ankle injury, but hopes to return soon to boost the U’s league campaign.

Lapslie, 20, injured an ankle in Colchester’s 3-2 home defeat to Blackpool a fortnight ago and has been working hard on the sideline ever since.

“There’s no need for any protection. I’m walking around and trying to keep myself fit by going to the gym,” said the midfielder.

“It’s come at a time when I’m in the team and starting but it happens in football. No-one touched me and it wasn’t a tackle – it’s just one of those things.”
