Born: Treviso, Italy, 1955 (Age 60) Playing career: A right-back, Cavasin started out with hometown club Treviso, making his debut in 1973 and going on to play a further 44 games in Serie C. Transferre­d in 1976 to Avellino, where his performanc­es caught the eye of several top-flight clubs and he joined Atalanta the following year, making his first start against Juventus. After ten appearance­s for Atalanta and a brief spell with SPAL, Cavasin joined Verona in 1981 and capped his only season with promotion to Serie A. That was followed in 1983-84 by a Serie C title with Bari and, in the subsequent season, a second promotion to Serie A. Relegated in 1986, Cavasin remained in the top flight with Cesena, playing 61 games before joining Padova in 1988. After 40 appearance­s, he retired in 1990. Managerial career: Appointed youth coach at Padova on his retirement. Cavasin managed lower-league sides Treviso, Trento, Fano, Ravenna and Gualdo before two years with Fiorenzuol­a ended in relegation to Serie C2. However, a move to Lecce in 1999 brought more success as Cavasin twice kept the newly-promoted side in Serie A on the final day and was named best manager in Italian football. Sacked in 2002, Cavasin joined Fiorentina and won the Serie C2 title, only to be dismissed the following season. He then spent brief spells at Brescia (twice), Treviso, Messina and Frosinone, before spending half a season with Swiss top-flight side Bellinzona in 2009-10. His last post was a tengame spell at Sampdoria that ended in relegation to Serie B in 2011. He was named manager of Leyton Orient on Monday.
