CAMBRIDGE United boss Shaun Derry is excited by the ruthless streak displayed by his U’s side in recent weeks.

Cambridge have scored freely in league and cup, with last Saturday’s 5-0 win over struggling Hartlepool following big wins over Dover and Coventry in the FA Cup, as well as Crawley and Cheltenham in League Two.

Derry believes the ruthless nature he had as a combative midfielder is rubbing off on his squad.

“Perhaps what you were as a player you are as a manager,” Derry said. “I pride myself on that ruthlessness and that’s something I’ve spoken about to the club

“When you get your chance, you’ve got to absolutely press the pedal really hard.”
