BRILLIANT HATTERS LAY DOWN A MARKER

-

THERE are certain performances and results in a season that make a statement, that put down a marker. This was one of those for Luton.

To come to Bloomfield Road, where only league leaders Plymouth Argyle have won in all competitions this season, and put on a display like that proved why Nathan Jones has his sights firmly fixed on automatic promotion.

Early on it was an even contest, with Blackpool having the better chances. But after the first goal Luton took charge and put on the most commanding performance at Bloomfield this season. Jones called it a gulf between the sides, and it was hard to argue with that.

For Blackpool there is no need to panic. This was a bad day at the office that ended their good run. But there have been enough positive signs this season to believe they can challenge for promotion and Gary Bowyer is justified in his belief this defeat was only “a blip”.
