DUFFY SILENCES ROVERS’ BOO BOYS

-

BRIGHTON central defender Shane Duffy was delighted to have the last laugh after finding himself public enemy number one at his former club Blackburn Rovers.

Duffy, who left Blackburn for Brighton this summer, marked his return by scoring his first goal for his new club in their 3-2 win at Ewood Park on Tuesday night.

He was booed throughout by the Blackburn fans and said: “They were giving me some, I gave it back. I enjoyed it. It’s football, I’ve got no hard feelings.”

Duffy was pleased to break his goal duck and added: “It was coming I think. Fortunately it was against Blackburn.

“I’ve been dying to get off the mark but it’s the three points that matter. I’d been disappointed that I hadn’t scored.

“I’d been close the last couple of weeks and I had a feeling it might be the night. The first chance I got I stuck it away. Hopefully that’s me off and running.

“We controlled the whole game but were sloppy at the end. It was disappointing to concede two.”
