SWIFT SO RELIEVED TO RETURN

INJURIES will frustrate any player, so it was a huge relief to Reading midfielder John Swift when he made his first appearance since the beginning of November on Boxing Day.

The midfielder came off the bench in Reading’s 3-1 win over Norwich after recovering from a knock picked up while with the England Under-21s.

“It’s the second time it’s happened to me on international duty,” said Swift.

“I don’t think anyone expected us to be in this position.

“For us, the fans andthe manager in his first season, to be up and fighting in the top six is a great position.”
