WE MAY HAVE TO UPROOT – LIONS
MILLWALL’S future in south London could be in jeopardy if land around The Den is sold off to property developers.
The Lions fear they may be forced to relocate to Kent if Lewisham Council go through with controversial plans to sell land to developers Renewal.
A compulsory purchase order is expected to be confirmed at a council meeting on Wednesday and the League One outfit are concerned this would prove fatal for the Milwall Community Trust and their academy.
In a statement, Millwall chief executive Steve Kavanagh told the
Guardian: “The chairman (John Berylson) has always been determined that this (leaving Lewisham) would never happen, but under such circumstances any and every option would have to be considered to secure the football club and the Millwall Community Trust’s future as viable concerns.”
