ALEX SETS THE VAR VERY HIGH

ALEX Reid admits he is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Vardy after inking professional terms with Fleetwood.

The 21-year-old striker has signed from Rushall Olympic and cites both Vardy, 29, and current Cod Army striker Ashley Hunter, 21, as an inspiration, after the duo made the jump to Highbury Stadium from Non-League.

“Seeing Jamie Vardy and people like Ash Hunter and where they have come from, it just proves to me that it is possible,” said Reid.

“I will work as hard as I can to get to the levels that Jamie Vardy has set for everybody now.”
