Team mates
Best mate at the club? That is a tough one because all the lads are my mates. We are a tight-knit squad at Shrewsbury. I have been to dinner with goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler and his missus a few times and also Gary Deegan and Jim O’Brien, but in general we all go out as a team together. Worst dressed? I am going to go for Callum Grogan, Kaiman Anderson and Ethan Jones. I am not part of their generation, so I don’t get it. They go for all kinds of clothes – I don’t even know how to describe it! But, for me, that makes it even worse when you spend a lot of money but fail to look good off it. Louis Dodds is always pretty well-dressed, to be fair. Dressing room DJ? Andy Hodgen, our fitness coach, is always in control of the music. He has it going every morning when we come in for training, to energise us. To be fair, he puts on a variety of stuff – I think it always depends on his mood. Late for training? Ivan Toney, who has just left us now, would turn up at the last possible second every time. It was unbelievable. He would aim to be in bang on time, but if there was a tractor on the road he would be late by ten minutes! We loved it because he built the fine pot up quite a bit, so we had a good Christmas party on him! Teacher’s pet? There is a bit of space for this now because it was George Waring, who was on loan from Stoke City. He has now joined Carlisle for the rest of the season. George would come in extra early to get going for the day and was very keen! First on the dance floor? Louis Dodds likes to get up there and throw a few shapes. He is not bad, to be fair to him! I get up there if I have a few drinks inside me. Only when I don’t care what people think about me will I get up and throw a few moves, though! Definitely not when sober. Most likely to disgrace themselves at a Christmas party? We went to Dublin for our Christmas party and it was a good turnout from the boys. We had a great time and a great laugh. Since the turn of the year, we have had an upturn in results, so it seems to have done the trick. Everyone was well-behaved, or what goes on tour stays on tour anyway! Worst tattoo? Again I am going to go for Louis Dodds! I am not one to talk because I have a few myself, but if I am not going to pick myself then I would say Louis. He has a halffinished rose which is odd. I have a few bad ones, but when you are young you do some silly things. Partial to a sunbed? Shaun Whalley likes a sunbed! He does it in secret, though, because he is quite pale usually. Who will be the best manager? Mat Sadler is doing some coaching, so I will go for him. I am doing my badges too but I am undecided if it is the route I want to go down.
