LEAGUE SCOUTS ON TRAIL OF TWO GEMS
TWO more Non-League players could be on the brink of big moves as the top end of the professional game continues to study grass-roots for its stars of the future.
St Neots Town striker Jevani Brown has been handed the opportunity to earn a contract at Birmingham City.
The Championship club were casting their eye over Brown last week after impressing Blues scouts in the Southern League Premier Division this term.
The 22-year-old signed for the Saints from Stamford only in December, but a fantastic scoring rate of 11 in 11 matches alerted the St Andrews talent-spotters to the former Barton Rovers, Arlesey and Kettering Town player.
Birmingham are no strangers to taking a punt on players from this level.
In January, City signed Dan Scarr from Stourbridge, of the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division, after he came to their attention in the club’s FA Cup run.
There’s another player causing a lot of fuss as well.
Histon’s Matthew Allan is on the wish-list of a number of clubs, even though his side are in a scrap to retain their Southern League Central status.
Crystal Palace reportedly want to take a closer look at the winger, who has scored 16 goals from midfield this season.
Norwich City have also had him watched in recent weeks and are said to be considering offering the teenager a trial at Carrow Road.
