OLD BOYS RETURNING TO ROVERS

BRISTOL Rovers chairman Steve Hamer is behind the revival of the ex-players’ association and has been amazed by the response.

“It has really caught the imagination,” says Hamer, “and they already have a working committee and a constitution in place.”

For the inaugural dinner on Thursday, April 27, the numbers appear to have outgrown the club.

They may have to move the event into a bigger hotel in the centre of the city.

Hamer is hopeful that Gerry Francis, Ian Holloway and Geoff Twentyman will attend and has booked legendary soccer comic Bob “The Cat” Bevan MBE as the entertainer.
